Questions
- How do I count words in PowerPoint?
- PowerPoint shows a total under File, Info, Show All Properties, but not per slide. Drop your .pptx here to see the words on every slide, the words in your notes, and the totals.
- How many words should a slide have?
- There is no fixed limit, but slides people can read in a few seconds work best. This tool flags slides over 40 words as dense so you can split them or move text into notes.
- Are speaker notes counted?
- Yes, separately. Slide words and note words are shown in their own columns, and speaking time is estimated from your notes when the deck has them.
- How is speaking time worked out?
- It uses 140 words a minute, the middle of a typical 130 to 160 range for presentations. Use the speech time calculator to try other paces.
- Is my presentation uploaded?
- No. The file is read in your browser and never sent to our servers.
