- How many words a minute do people speak?
- A typical speaking pace for talks and presentations is about 130 to 160 words a minute. Slow, careful delivery sits nearer 120, and fast, conversational delivery can pass 160. Time yourself reading one page aloud to find your own pace.
- How long is a 1,000 word speech?
- At an average 140 words a minute, 1,000 words take about 7 minutes. At a slow 120 it is about 8 minutes 20 seconds, and at a fast 160 about 6 minutes 15 seconds.
- How many words do I need for a 5 minute speech?
- Roughly 600 to 800 words at a typical pace. Aim for the lower end if you plan pauses, demos or questions.
- How many slides should my speech have?
- A common guide is one slide for every 1 to 2 minutes of talking, so a 10 minute talk needs about 5 to 10 slides. Talks with lots of visuals can use more.
- Is my script stored anywhere?
